Where Super Mario 3D Land Was Born.
Every gamer just loves the traditional Mario series set on a 2D platform. While there were attempts to employ completely free-roaming 3D exploration on the series, the end results were not as successful as the original 2D platform with exception for Mario Kart racing game.
With Nintendo 3DS, however, this landscape is about to change with the integration of autostereoscopic technology to provide precise depth in the field without having to wear 3D glasses. A Super Mario 3D Land review, in particular, praises the implementation of this technology into the game.
As described by Shigeru Miyamoto, the main game designer, Super Mario 3D Land has the gameplay similar to the 2D platform in a world programmed to be viewed on 3D. Elements of the 2D platform are hence transported to the 3D world. It further accommodates other gamer preferences who would like to retain the traditional 2D view.

Nonetheless, activating the 3D switch brings a more precise view of the landscape. The element of depth becomes even more important when attempting to acquire enhancement items along the journey.
While the gaming platform adds another innovative dimension, the familiar plot is similarly retained along with power-ups and other animated characters. The storyline begins with Bowser kidnapping Princess Peach. Mario learns about this incident and sets himself on a journey to rescue the princess. Power ups such as the Fire Flower for throwing fireballs, the Statue Leaf for turning Mario into an invincible statue, and the Super Leaf for mutating the character into Tanooki Mario are all available.

One Of The Most Memoriable Characters Of Super Mario 3D Land.
When in Tanooki Mario form, the character can float in the air using his raccoon-like tail. By gaining enough speed, Mario is able to fly using the wagging tail as the propeller and his hands as the wings.
In addition to the basic power ups, the game becomes even more fascinating with a set of Propeller enhancements. The Propeller Box and the Propeller Mushroom are both obtainable from the game.
These enhancements enable the character to reach elevated places.

The Super Mario 3D Land comprises a total of 8 worlds, the last of which is the Final World where Bowser resides. To get past through each level, Mario must reach the flagpole before the time limit. To open new worlds, a designated number of Star Medals must be collected.
Most of the reviews of 3D Land have been very favorable owing to the playability of the game in auto stereoscopic 3D. GameRankings and Metacritic both give a 90% rating for Super Mario 3D Land.
